It’s Never Too Late to Design Your Dream Life
On Regret & Finding Hope
Are you waiting for the world to change? Or for that goal or thing to manifest before you take action?
Take it from me — get out of your head. Stop denying your potential. Take the leap now before years of regret pass you by.
Today, I’m doing something I’ve been denying myself for the better part of twelve years: starting a YouTube channel. Youtube has been part of my life for the longest time. I’ve found hope on YouTube, and often times it was the only way I could see authentic representation of those who look like me or those who’ve had similar journeys.
On Choosing Joy & Authenticity
For some reason, I’ve just always denied myself the opportunity to create… not in an artistic way, because I do that just about every day. I mean create Youtube videos. Maybe it was the fear of judgment, failure, success, or all the above.
But I think I’ve always stopped myself because as a minority, I’ve been fighting for the underdogs all my life. As a blogger, creative, in my personal and professional life… it didn’t seem right to not incorporate that into a Youtube channel.
Somewhere along the way, I got stuck. On one hand, I wanted to talk about those things and make a difference. Give a face, share a voice. On the other hand, I was just tired of doing that — the whole fighting when no one cares to listen. I just wanted to be. To create on my terms, without fear of having boundaries crossed or someone dictating what I can and can’t say.
I just wanted to be my authentic self. Be fully immersed in my wholeness and hobbies. Just be free to talk about whatever it is I want, without having to carry the weight or the burden of going after the dark underbelly of society.
On Dropping Perfectionism & Denial
A lot of weight and pressure to be perfect and have the right equipment? I put that all on myself. Then, it dawned on me, I don’t have to be anything else but my authentic self. And that’s how I can make a difference. Showing the world and other BIPOC folks that there’s space for them to be embodied. To just be free. To just be the beautiful human beings they are.
So that’s what this is. Welcome [back] to my journey! I guess you can say this is where it all begins. This is where I choose to be authentically me — with boundaries, with privacy, with stories and integrity, with hobbies and adventures, with lessons and lapses of judgment. Just a human being sharing and exploring, designing and curating healthy, fun, liberating life experiences for all of us to enjoy. Hopefully, you’ll be inspired to stop denying yourself of the chance to live the life you want, so you can start building it today.
