2022: The Year to Call In Simple Luxuries

Prior to the new year, I had an end-of-year emotional breakdown. It came after I ‘reflected’ on the year, which is something I normally don’t do for the sake of my mental health. In that moment, it hit me like a ton of bricks that I’ve made the same goals over and over again every single year, and every year, they still seem just as far away.

Then, after releasing and processing my feelings, something shifted. I did an exercise where I wrote out my intentions for 2022 in a way that was somewhat comparable to a business plan. It was so specific, and when I finished, I knew in my gut it would come to fruition. It was a knowing I haven’t really had before, but the feelings associated with this detailed, more-so realistic ‘business plan’ started flooding my mind with images representing the moments I’d like to experience. Essentially, my vision board was coming to life.

Vision boards are a form of manifestation. They can be created with the use of physical boards, magazines, paper and photos, if you’re more of an arts and crafts type of person. They can also be done digitally, which is how I like to do them. With 2022 around the corner, I thought it’d be fun to show my process and create space for us to manifest together. Here’s what you’ll want to keep in mind as you create, listen and watch along:

1. MAKE A PLAN

Don’t get lost in the sauce. Find your inspiration, identify your visual cues, and make an outline for the method works best for you. The idea is to make sure you can either see it every day, on the reg, or revisit it quickly to stay focused on your goals. So this is where you’ll want to consider if a physical, digital, or video vision board works best for you. If digital or in video form, does it make more sense for you to keep a private running board on your chosen social platform?

2. MAKE SECTIONS

Personally, I’m on a mission in 2022 to design my dream life. I want to be the ‘magazine editor’ of my life so to speak, so I’ll be splitting my board up into the following sections: Finances, Housing & Decor, Health/Fitness (also incorporating Mental Health, Spirituality), Overall Aesthetic & Appearance, Skincare & Beauty, Wardrobe, Family & Relationships.

This is where making a ‘business plan’ for the year (even the year’s months or weeks) may be helpful to you. It might expose where you’ve experienced stagnancy or where you’d like to experience more growth — or forward progress — in your life; therefore, outlining your board sections.

3. MAKE IT PERSONAL

Sourcing information is probably the most exhilarating part of making a vision board. Those creative juices are flowing and endorphins are at an all-time high. Manifesting is all about feeling — envisioning how you’ll feel when that moment arrives. Envisioning the feeling of alignment. Trust that feeling, and how it relates to your intuition and visual cues. Don’t let the should’s drive your creative flow. Do your best not to judge yourself, the process, or how it all comes together.
